LTG FAQ

Life Together Group FAQ

What is the size of the groups?

Usually groups range from 10-15 people.

How often do they meet?

Most groups meet twice a month and many of the groups take a break over the summer time.

What are meetings like?

Most group times are not tightly structured although leaders certainly have a flow in their own minds. Groups normally meet in the time frame of 90 minutes. We try to be open to the Holy Spirit and the needs of the group. Typical meetings include Bible Study, prayer, sharing life together, and having fun.

What about child care?

Some groups have child care built in. Others do not. Also, we have at least one Life Together Group that integrates the children into their meetings helping them in the journey with Christ.

What topics are normally studied?

This depends on the group. Some of the groups discuss the sermon on Sunday. Others have their own studies related to the needs of the group.

Are the Life Together Groups broken down by life stages?

There are some groups whose members are in a particular life stage (singles, young marrieds etc.) Other groups welcome a diversity of people in different life stages.

What if I start to attend a group but it is not a good fit?

We recognize that you may start attending a group but it is not the best fit for you. We encourage folks to try out a group and see if it fits for them. If not, we will attempt to place you in another group that will fit better for you.

What are the benefits of being a member of a Life Together Group?

The benefits of Life Together Groups are many. Below are some of them:

1. You have others committed to know you and support you in your walk with Christ so your growth is deeper and progressive.

2. You have a loving community of believers committed to be there when you face adversity and trials in life. You will not be alone in support of others.

3. You have the privilege of serving and supporting others on their journey with Christ thus living out what it means to love one another.

4. You come under the shepherding ministry of the elders at Journey since Life Together Groups are the key connection for pastoral care in the church. The elders believe that this is a primary way to be shepherded in the life of Journey.

What are the expectations if I join a group?

Being part of a Life Together Group means you join in committing yourself with others in your group to become transformed into the likeness of Christ both in character and service. This requires that you are committed to attend the meetings (of course there are unavoidable conflicts) and that you are open to not only encourage and support others in their journey with Christ but you are open to be accountable to others for your growth and witness. Becoming part of a Life Together Group means you are willing to share your life and have those in your group encourage, pray and exhort you in your journey with Christ.
